Mt. 18:1-4, 23:11-12; Lk. 9:48, 10:21

In this fourth paradox, Jesus says that the smallest among us is the greatest. On one occasion, he actually has a small child stand in the midst of his disciples, and declares that they should all strive to be more like him (or her). So what exactly is it about children that Jesus is calling us to emulate? Surely adulthood grants us knowledge, experience and physical strength that makes us more fruitful in service. And surely there are aspects of childhood that we are well to outgrow. But what makes a child greater than an adult? Pastor Trevor identifies three main qualities – Innocence, Trust and Joy – and offers practical suggestions on how we can cultivate them in our own lives.
