Letting Go of Jericho

In the closing hours of 2017, we are encouraged to ask God to reveal anything from the past year which may shackle us, keeping us from taking hold of whatever God wants to give us or teach us in 2018. To illustrate the danger of this, we look at Joshua 7, the story of Achan’s Sin, and how the inability to let go of Jericho prevented Israel from laying hold of Ai. Pastor Trevor identifies five main categories – hobbies/habits, social status, lies that work for us, “win conditions,” and unforgiveness – as common things that we cling to. We simply cannot move on to the next frontier of faith while we are clinging to our last stop. This message touts the corny catch phrase, “Wipe the slate clean for 2018!”
