Mk. 14:27-31, 66-72

There is a growing trend in our culture that elevates honesty over virtue; people will favour a person who is honest about their flaws than one whose flawless presentation leaves us wondering if they are hiding something. This trend has some real dangers, but it also offers Christians a biblical opportunity – biblical because God has chosen to write HIS story with a lot of flawed characters. The Bible leaves “deletable scenes” in almost every chapter – even for the really holy ones. Why doesn’t God “airbrush” His heroes? Drawing on the story of Peter, this message answers that question. The point: we will make Jesus more beautiful to the people listening to our testimonies, if we are willing to let Him be the good guy, and ourselves the bad guy who has been redeemed by Him.
