This is the second installment in a three-part series on the spirit of victimhood. Previously, we discussed the rise of the “victimhood culture” in which we all live, and next week, we will celebrate the Church’s victory over it because of Jesus. But this week, we descend into self-reflection, and ask God to expose the aspects of our own lives that are infected with victimhood and self-pity, and all the powers of justification that it gains for us. Pastor Trevor confesses five areas where the Spirit has already revealed victimhood working in his own life, then proposes 12 examples of common infection within the Church. Special attention is given to the Depression pandemic. We are reminded by our Scripture passage that Jesus promises us trials and troubles, but also the joy from Heaven to live abundantly in the midst of them!
