Pastor Trevor shared how a sermon he thought would be about justification by faith really developed into a Christian call to joy. 1 John 3:8 says that Jesus came into the world to destroy the devil's work. What was the Devil's work? Convincing the human race that God's Presence and Paradise was not enough to make us happy; that we needed "forbidden fruit." If this is the work that Jesus came to destroy, then it is logical to say that we, the Church, are really called to be HAPPY in God. Fundamentally, the Blood of the Lamb allows Christians to have God "with them in the Garden" once again. Where Adam and Eve forfeited the Life and Presence of God, Jesus restored it to us, and now Satan has the task of trying to make the Church RE-fall. Therefore, at its very heart, the Christian life is about finding our happiness in the abiding Presence of God. The Blood of the Lamb had the power to remove the "lien" which Satan had against us, and it did that once and for all, over 2000 years ago. But the Power in the Blood is still active, empowering us to enjoy God, moment by moment, if we will only draw on that power!
