This message is for anyone who has ever wondered if they are running out of second chances with God. Pastor Trevor shares his own struggle to see himself not only as God's servant, but as a CHILD. Since God reveals Himself as Father, and calls us children, we know our bond with God through Christ is quite stable. The stability is intensified by the fact that the Bible repeatedly describes eternal life not as a reward for being good, but an inheritance. An inheritance is something children receive from their parents just because they are children. We did not "good" our way into adoption, so we cannot "bad" our way out. However, even in our Romans 8 passage, which speaks so strongly about our guaranteed inheritance, there is an "IF clause" which suggests that it is possible (though not easy) for a child to fail to receive his or her inheritance. The final conclusion is that we cannot LOSE our salvation, but we can REFUSE it.
