John's Gospel contains no explicit "Christmas story," but it contains an important description of exactly who that baby in the manger was. John calls Jesus the "Word" of God. To fully grasp what John is trying to say, we need to understand how that word "word" was spiritually understood in ancient times. Drawing both on Greek philosophy and the Creation story of Genesis 1, the Pastor shows how Jesus is the "Voice" of God - not a spokesperson, but the actual voice, in which lies all of God's personality, will, desire, and creative power!
