Matt. 28:16-20; 1Cor. 3:6-7; 2Tim. 2:2

Today, Dori (our Samaritan's Purse liaison) shared with our church family about the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox program - where the boxes have gone, how many were packed, and how people can get involved. She also shared about "The Greatest Journey," which is the discipleship program which Samaritan's Purse has developed to help children learn more about the Jesus in whose name their shoeboxes were given. They realize that Jesus' "Great Commission" to make disciples is not a once-and-done thing. It takes time and leadership and intentionality. Pastor Trevor used this as a spring-board to challenge our church to become more intentional about making disciples. The point: that if we aren't making disciples FOR Jesus, then we aren't truly disciples OF Jesus - because making disciples is what Jesus has commanded us to do!

Note: this sermon has become our first segment in a four-week Discipleship emphasis.
