While every sermon worth its salt ought to entreat its audience to go deeper with Jesus, sometimes we need to just come right out and say it - to invite people to take a deliberate step. This message identifies six tangible steps that increase our commitment to Jesus: Conviction, Trusting Jesus, Experiencing the Holy Spirit, Baptism with Water, Local Church Membership, Becoming a Disciple-Maker. This order of the list is not the point. The goal is for every believer to do all of these. Time does not permit satisfactory coverage of any of these commitments, but it summarizes all of them, in hopes that a few in the family will deliberately step out and say YES to going deeper! We finished with a formal invitation for people to signify their willingness to take a step by putting their name on a paper, along with the step they believe Jesus is calling them to take next. (Good news: a full third of those present came forward!)
